Learn the basics of knitting! Students, will learn to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, as well as learning how to read a knitting pattern to create several types of stitches. Possible final projects could include a scarf, bean bags, or wrist warmers. Sign up just your child, or learn to knit together! Please plan to bring your own size 8 or 9 straight needles. Yarn is provided, but you may bring your own as well. Students with experience from our Fall session are welcome to continue in this class!
Quilling Classes
What is it? Quilling is the art of paper filigree, rolling strips of paper into various shapes to make pictures. It most likely dates to the Middle Ages when monks and nuns used quills to roll paper trimmings into coils to decorate objects. The students will learn the basic shapes to make flowers and butterflies. (Or whatever else they can think of!) Then they can decorate notecards, greeting cards, boxes, gift tags, and/or photo mats.
Where will it meet? Your home. You collect a group, provide a table to work on, and I will bring everything.
When will it meet? I am currently scheduling classes on Thursdays and Fridays. The class is 2 hours.
What ages is this for? I’d recommended it for upper elementary through adult. Younger kids are welcome if they are patient, attentive, and can sit still for a while. This involves fine motor skills.
What is the cost? It is $15/student. All materials are included. There is an extra fee if I have to travel more than 30 miles from Greater New Bedford. (You can use Buttonwood Park Zoo as the starting point if you’re curious.)
How many do you need? A minimum of 4 students to run the class, but limited to no more than 8.
Interested? Send me an email or text and I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.
